I am unable to do any subtitling even though I got the amara confirmation email. It says "your application is pending". What should I do now? How long is pending day and when can I start subtitling?

Normally the "your application is pending" email only comes from teams that require application. Is this your case? If yes, which team, please?

Approval time for applications depends on how busy team admins are. If it has been more than 2 weeks, you could try to contact a team admin via his/her Amara profile, which you will find in the Members list.
