Well, dear friends, can anyone help me?
I subtitled this video https://www.amara.org/de/videos/65CIeo4PgwVa/info/spirituality-30-the-path-of-choice-teal-swan-/
and did all the subtitling and syncing to publish it in GERMAN, but if I push "publish" nothing works there.
Please, what can I do?
Greetings,
Elimar
Dear Claude! Thank you so much for responding to my question, it makes me hopeful that this issue can be resolved in some time. I logged in again, pushed again the "publish" button. But again it doesn't show German subtitles in Utube. And it doesn't appear as "Spiritualität 3.0 (Weg des Wählens) - Teal Swan - " either. So, would you be willing to look at this problem again? I submitted your question to Teal Swan, and will submit her answer to you, asap, Thank you! Elimar
Dear Claude, thank you again for your comment!
It fueled again the torch of hope in me.
But I have to tell you that the problem is still not solved.
Though it appears solved within AMARA it doesn't get published in utube, from which you can convince yourself: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h4UcPVPtOa0
What I meant with "And it doesn't appear as "Spiritualität 3.0 (Weg des Wählens) - Teal Swan - " either." is simply the title of "spirituality 3.0..." in German, and I thought that it would appear with a German Title in utube, otherwise why should one "edit title and description" translate into German?
Thank you again for your help.
Yours sincerely
Elimar
Goodness, gracious, Claude,
sometimes it seems so complicated to get things done right!
But I really, really am thankful for your responses!
Now, I hope that Blake in the name of Teal Swan does that support ticket you spoke of, I copied your response to his fb-accont.
He posted to me afterwords http://support.amara.org/support/solutions/articles/194156-cannot-find-complete-button-in-the-subtitle-editor-where-is-it-gone
Now, it is not really applying to my case, so to speak, because I always see the complete (meaning, I guess, now, the publish-button), but it just wouldn't work, when I try. But it was said in the article, to check the lines again, esp. the latest ones, so I did. By doing this, I remembered the difference to the video I finished subtitling for Teal, that was
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8KQEZ4TXFzM
which appeared with no problems in utube, is the new handling of "faulty" lines, that there now would appear a red acclamation mark for lines which appear to be not correct.
I could correct all the cases where I really missed to split the line into two, because it should be only 42 charakter per line at most.
But there appear about 20 of them still with a red acclamation mark, where I simply cannot reduce the length/sec of the subtitles appearing (should be >21 charakters/second) because she is speaking really fast and guys who are really interested in the content, could stop it on utube anyways. Otherwise I could try to do it again, if there is a hope it would solve the problem and look into the translation again. Maybe do some more abbreviated lines, somehow.
But I guess it would be no more really understandable for the German reader.
Now, do you think that could be the reason, the publishing button is not working?
Thank you in advance for your time and consideration,
have a great pentecost weekend,
Elimar
Hi Elimar,
First, thank you for the link to http://support.amara.org/support/solutions/articles/194156-cannot-find-complete-button-in-the-subtitle-editor-where-is-it-gone: I hadn't revisited the page in a while and maybe we should update the screenshot, as the interface has slightly changed since.
However otherwise its content is still valid: the subtitle editor will only prevent you from marking the subtitles as complete if they have critical errors, and subtitle length or too fast reading speed are not critical errors: see the list of critical errors in http://support.amara.org/support/solutions/articles/207852-subtitle-editor-now-checks-for-critical-errors-in-subtitles:
and that's all, fortunately: the red exclamation marks for other things like too long or too fast a subtitle are only indicative warnings, in case users want to strictly stick to the subtitling norms described in the guidelines. So don't overly worry about them. They are not the reason why your subtitles did not transfer to YouTube: you were able to mark your subtitles as complete, therefore they should have transfered to YouTube.
Let's indeed hope that Blake creates a ticket about the fact that they didn't transfer: there's nothing more you or I can or must do.
Happy Whitsun to you too.
Claude
