Thank you for this very interesting question: it had not been asked before, to my knowledge.
As I was unable to find an answer in the Solutions section, I created a ticket from it, of which you should have received an email notification: Ticket #78617.

The embed code for Amara is a JavaScript script and a HTML snippet, so it can't be used directly with the embed Shockwave object menu.
It seems one option could be using a LiveWeb plugin, e.g. http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/25946/how-to-add-live-web-pages-to-a-powerpoint-presentation/

do you know how to embed Amara video code on a powerpoint slide? Thank you!!
I'd like the video to run directly form PPT, like a normal vimeo/youtube file.
