Difference between "English" and "Ingles"?

Thank you for your question. Yes, "ingles" is the right option for "American English". The mixture of Portuguese and English in the language list is due to the not yet complete Portuguese translation of the Amara interface. In case you meet other unclear things when you view Amara in Portuguese, change to the English interface by using http://www.amara.org/en/ at the beginning of the URL.

Hi,
I am subtitling my first video and when I chose the original language, I had to pick between "British English" and "Ingles".
The problem arised because the video is an American English commercial. I didn't want to choose the British english so I picked "Ingles". What is this "ingles", that strangely coincides with the portuguese word for "English"?
Is this the right option for "American English, or is there another option?
Can you please advise me on this one?
