Invite the world to edit your subtitles
The Amara Public space includes access to the Amara Subtitle Editor so volunteers can create captions and subtitles for publicly hosted video content. When you add your videos to Amara Public you enable people from across the globe to help caption and translate your videos.
Getting started on Amara is quick and easy. Everyone on Amara starts out with a free user account. With your Amara Free user account, you can:
Subtitle public videos on Amara.
Add videos by their URL.
Find volunteer teams to join.

Amara users must have at least one language set on their account to be able to join an Amara team.
Set up private Amara Plus, Amara Community or Amara Enterprise teams for your private video projects.
Note: If you do not have an Amara account yet, you can still browse and search for public videos and watch them with subtitles in the Amara video player.
Sign Up for free!
If you want to submit videos and create subtitles on Amara, you need to create a user account and log in. To begin, open the Sign Up For Free page.
Three ways to create a new user account on Amara:
Best option: Create a username and a password linked to a valid email address.
Using an existing Google account.
Using an existing X (Twitter) account.
If you sign up using your X account, you will need to add a valid email address and confirm it before you will have access to all features like adding videos on Amara.
Create an Amara Username and Password
Access the account creation page by clicking the Sign up for free button in the top right corner of the Amara.org home page.
On the Account Creation page:
Create a unique username.
Your username should:
Contain no spaces.
Contain no special characters (@ . + - _ symbols are accepted).
Enter a valid email address.
Enter your password twice to confirm.
Check the box agreeing to the Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
Select Create Account.
If the username is taken, you will see this message and you should choose another username:
Note: Both Amara usernames and passwords are case sensitive, so please note the username and password exactly as you enter them during sign up.
Confirm your email address
You must confirm your email to have full access to all features.
Important note: If you do not sign up and confirm a valid email address, you will not be able to reset your email or password in the future, and some Amara features will be inaccessible until you confirm a valid email address.
If you create a new Amara account successfully, you will be signed in automatically.
You will see your Amara username in the top-right of your screen.
If you did not verify your email yet you can follow the prompt to complete setting up your account.
Please check your Spam or Junk folders for new emails if the confirmation email does not arrive in your Inbox.
Amara respects your privacy. Your email address will only be used as the confirmation of your identity and for communication with you. It will not be disclosed to any third party. Learn more about Amara's privacy policy.
