Please consider this before applying
Applicants must have experience creating subtitles with the Amara Editor to be considered. Make sure you have at least 2 samples of completed subtitles on your Amara profile before applying!
Our linguists need to be familiar with the Amara subtitle editor because it is used to complete all work at AOD.
It gives you the chance to learn the shortcuts, time yourself, and figure out if subtitling on Amara is something that you are excited about doing!
Before applying
learn how to use The Amara Subtitle Editor
choose two short (1-2 minute) videos in the Amara video library
or Add Videos to Amara Public to your individual user account for us to view alongside your application.
Please only create subtitles in your native language.
You can read our blog post with tips on creating captions/subtitles.
To Apply
Complete at least 2 (short 2-3 minute) sample subtitles using the Amara Editor.
Log in to Amara.org and fill out our online application.
Please note the following:
You should be logged into amara.org before proceeding to fill out the application. The Application reads the Activity on your Profile and will be able to determine whether the required 2 pieces of subtitling work are present.
The "warning" message about the 2 work samples will always be visible at the top of the Application page, so just proceed to fill out the Application and click on Apply once you have completed the 2 pieces of subtitling work.
Files you are uploading with the application, such as your CV, should not contain special characters in the file name (for example, ó and ñ). Special characters can be present in the content of the files, just not the file names.
