If you are an administrator of a Collaboration Team...


Only administrators and owners of a collaboration team can create subtitle requests for a team. To learn more about Amara Enterprise Teams, contact enterprise@amara.org.

From the Subtitle Requests section:


  1. Go to the Management tab of your team page

  2. Subtitle requests section appears by default

  3. Click “Create request” at the top right of your team videos


Note: Make sure you know the video title and subtitle languages you would like to request.

Clicking “Create request” in Subtitle Request tab opens this pop-up:

  1. Search for video title

    • You can only add one video at a time.

    • Copy and paste the video title for a quick search

  2. Set subtitle request languages

    • Search and select the languages you want to request

    • You can request multiple subtitle languages

  3. Evaluation teams

    • Optional for owners/administrators with at least two teams

    • Evaluation teams review assignments after completion

    • Not available if you are only admin of one team

  4. Create request

    • Click “Create” to create subtitle requests in selected languages

    • To cancel creating request, click “Cancel”

      • Cancelling a request does not delete pre-existing requests

      • Only cancels this attempt at creating request

From the Videos section:


Create subtitle requests for a single video:


  1. Go to the Management tab of your team page

  2. Select the Videos tab

  3. Hover over the video you want to create a subtitle request for

  4. Select “Create request” from the dropdown menu

Create subtitle requests for multiple videos:


  1. Go to the Management tab of your team page

  2. Select the Videos tab

  3. Choose the  videos you want to create subtitle requests for by clicking the checkboxes to the left

  4. Select “Create request” from slide-up menu at the bottom of the screen

If you are unhappy with your selection, you can “Deselect” in the slide-up menu and start over.




Clicking “Create request” opens this pop-up:

  1. Subtitle Language(s)

    • Choose the languages for your subtitles

  2. Video language

    • Set video language to match the original language spoken in your videos

    • Optional setting

      • If the video language is not set for a video in your selection, you can choose to set it here

      • This will not affect videos that already have their video language set

  3. Evaluation teams

    • Optional for owners/administrators with at least two teams

    • Evaluation teams review assignments after completion

    • If you are an administrator of one team, setting your team as your Evaluation team will not create a subtitle request

  4. Create request

    • Click “Create” to create subtitle requests in selected languages

    • To cancel creating request, click “Cancel”

      • Cancelling a request does not delete pre-existing requests

      • Only cancels this attempt at creating request

Viewing subtitle requests for your videos

After you create subtitle requests, you can view the requests, related assignments, and progress on several different team pages:


Managers and administrators can return to the Management > Subtitle Requests page to view and manage all requests for their Collaboration Team.


Any team member can view all subtitle requests for one video:

  • Videos All Videos page

  • Click on the video thumbnail

  • This opens the Video Details page


Any team member can view the details for a subtitle request for a video:

  • Videos All Videos page

  • Click on the video thumbnail

  • Click on the language you would like to view

  • This opens the Subtitle Details page

  1. Assignments Summary

    • Filter assignments by your languages or view all assignments

    • Click Manage Requests to view all subtitle requests for a video. Manage requests by

      • Assigning team members (managers and above)

      • Deleting requests (administrators and above)

      • Assigning work and evaluation teams (administrators of multiple teams)


  1. Completed Subtitles lists all completed subtitle requests


  1. Video Details Tabs

    • The Video Info tab lists video title, description, duration, and assigned teams. Get an embed code to share or click the Follow toggle to receive updates for this video

    • The Activity tab lists all team member activity for the video.

    • The comments tab shows all public comments (Note: this does not include subtitle notes submitted in the Amara Editor).

    • The URLs tab shows the URL from the video’s source page (Note: Amara partners with several external hosting sites but does not host videos on our own site).

Subtitle Details page




  1. Subtitle Progress panel

    • Download completed subtitles to your computer (in SBV, DFXP, VTT, SRT, TXT, or SSA formats)

    • View assignments and team members who completed work


  1. Revisions summary

    • Administrators can delete revisions or change the subtitle language if needed


  1. Subtitle Details tabs

    • The Subtitles tab shows the subtitles and their timestamps

    • The Subtitles Info tab shows video information for the subtitle

    • The Activity tab shows all activity by team members

    • The Subtitle Notes tab shows all subtitle notes left by team members in the Amara Editor

    • The Sync History tab shows the status of all attempts at exporting subtitle files to the video source page.
